Peer-reviewed publication
A case report published in 2023
Pérez Corzo HJ and colleagues published Unexpected finding of leiomyoma during laparoscopic gastric sleeve: a case report in the Journal of Surgical Case Reports on January 10, 2023. DOI: 10.1093/jscr/rjac626. The publication identifies Renew Bariatrics as Dr. Pérez’s affiliation.
The report describes an unexpected mass encountered during a sleeve operation, its removal and pathological diagnosis as an esophageal leiomyoma. It illustrates the need to assess unexpected findings during an operation. One case cannot establish how often such findings occur or predict outcomes for other patients.

Professional education
Clinical-session co-coordinator: CMCOEM regional meeting, 2025
The official program for CMCOEM’s Puerto Vallarta regional meeting, April 3–5, 2025, names Dr. Héctor Pérez Corzo and Dr. Jeffry Romero Manzano as co-coordinators of the April 5 Cine Clínico session. The session included clinical presentations on bariatric conversions and revisions. A coordinator’s role should not be confused with presenting every procedure on the program.
See the official program, page 10.
Speaker: CMCOEM congress, 2023
A CMCOEM certificate records Dr. Héctor Joaquín Pérez Corzo as a speaker in a debate on the future of robotic bariatric surgery at the July 12–15, 2023 congress. Participation in a debate documents an educational contribution; it is not a claim that robotic surgery is available through this site.

What academic activity tells a patient
A publication or educational role gives you a verifiable part of a physician’s professional record. It does not replace current credentials, an assessment of your health or a discussion of the proposed procedure. Use these records alongside the credential guide and the questions to ask before revision surgery.
